ABOUT ME

My path to birth work began after my own transformational experiences with birth and motherhood. I started my career in the nutrition field as a Registered Dietitian. After completing my Bachelor of Science and Dietetic Internship at Long Island University, I worked for several years in the clinical healthcare setting. During this time I was exposed to the many gaps that exist in our healthcare system. It wasn’t until I became pregnant that I realized the true lack of support that families experience, particularly in the postpartum period. Already a self-proclaimed “birth nerd,” I decided to pursue my passion to help families as they navigate pregnancy, birth, and parenthood.

In 2022 I completed my birth doula certification with Allo Saratoga, an organization that deeply aligns with my values, particularly when it comes to building community and connecting families with resources. The following year I completed my postpartum doula training with CAPPA and am currently working toward certification. I have enjoyed working with families as a birth and postpartum doula and I am always looking to learn more to advance my practice. It is such an honor every time a family invites me into their birth and/or postpartum space. My favorite part is watching parents build their confidence and come into their own, whether it’s advocating for the birth experience they desire, learning to communicate their needs, or trusting their own intuition over the status quo.

I currently reside just outside of Saratoga Springs with my husband, two daughters, and rescue pup Stanley. When I’m not nerding out over birth I enjoy cooking and baking, bingeing Netflix, and getting lost in thought while walking in the woods with my dog.

MY PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy around birth and nutrition stem from the same principle; that our bodies and intuition are stronger than we realize. As a non-diet dietitian, I embrace an intuitive eating approach that prioritizes your relationship with food and your body. Both birth and intuitive eating rely on the ability to trust our bodies. Unfortunately, we start receiving messages at a very young age that our bodies cannot be trusted. Our society normalizes diet culture, weight stigma, medical mistreatment and gaslighting, often with profound impacts on our physical and mental health. Birth has become a topic shrouded in mystery, something to be feared rather than embraced as a rite of passage. I’m here to help you tune out the noise of doubt and uncertainty, and instead tune in to your own intuition and power. To find peace in your relationship with food, your body, and your self. And to be a trusted source of evidence-based information and emotional support.
